Formulation of the 280th USASA Company
By Edward Crisswell

Originally the ASA in Berlin was all Detachments.  Det B, 8620 was out of Hq., ASA Europe in Frankfurt.  Det F, 8606 was out of Herzo Base.  Det A, 302nd was from somewhere in the zone and then there was your Detachment of the 22nd at Rudow.  These were all combined into the 260th ASA Company which later became the 280th, then the 78th SOU and then Field Station Berlin.  I know the Field Station has reunions and a web site also.  They were in existence until the 70's when the ASA became Inscomm.
